Seriously thank god for the weekend.

Yes indeed I have a weekend where I am required to be at school or a school event.

And what pray tell should I do with all this free time. I am glad I asked. I may venture down to my new crack shack. Yes I have been knitting and yes it is an addiction now. I love looking for yarn and I love looking for hardware. This place is so great it has a much larger selection of yarn both differnt kinds of wools and blends and colors. The limitation of color choices has been bothering me with such places as the Hobby Lobby and JoAnns. This place has a huge selection. Also I don't feel like a preditor in this place. When I go alone to HL or JA's I feel like they are look at me like I am a pedophile. When Xena and I went last weekend there were two men in the store knitting, oh yes I could also just go down and knit. How cool and before you say it yes, how lame as well. I don't care.

Now the one draw back to this place is that I do pay for the joy of knitting. It is very expensive and I have to monitor my treks there. I could be heading to Bankurpcy court if I go too much, but I would have lots of Bitchin Sweaters!

I am trying to stave of the Flu that has been traversing the halls here. I am really tired but I have hit that tired run down phase where you find an odd reserve of energy. I have been really productive tody. I caught up on Lesson plans for 3 of my classes. I am now 2 weeks ahead. Yea I don't know where this is coming from but I am running with it till I drop, which I figure will be 7:32 tonight. Here's hoping Crazy Me will do the laudry and straighten up the living room and maybe do some dishes., because Lazy Me hasn't been doing much and Motivated Me has been screening his calls.

Oh praise jebus

My 8th period is gone today. I can leave early if I want to.

And I do.

Am I a Tyrant... or do I care if I am a tyrant?

I ask you do I ask too much of my students. I am not waiting for your reply because I knw the answer is no. There are in fact many times when I feel like a push over. For my ensembles here are my expectations.

1. Show up.

2. Have your instrument.

3. Have your music.

4. Be prepared. (that has some wiggle room really it's be as prepared as you can be.)

5. Put your things away properly.

These are pretty easy things to do right? Right? Apparently not. We do fine for the most part with steps 1 and 2. 3 is acceptable and 4 is getting better. Where we seem to have the problem is 5. I too often find music and instruments just laying about. Now I will have to say it is emmencely better than when I started here 4 years ago. Special K never addresses this problem. Yes the first year or two I was met with resistance, mostly because the students were never asked or expected to do it. After the first few years it got better. Now we just need to fine tune some areas. When it comes to my classes the expectations are similar, Show up, be prepared, don't be disruptive and we are golden. For the most part this is fine.

So why think I am a tyrant. Well Special K never asks or expects them to do anything. Instead she bitches and maons to me and herself when things go badly. Say drummers lose their sticks constantly because they don't put them away. Well one thing is she never gets on them and makes excuses for them. They are Teenage boys for god sake they forget 2 minutes after you tell them. Don't get mad just say it again. I find it funny that she is the big push over that lets the kids do what they want when they want because they whine and complain to her but for the most part the kids are afraid of her. They come to me, who really is the one who gets on them for one thing or another. I can't count the number of times this year kids have asked me something and I have to refer them to Special K and they look at me and say, "I don't want to." "Why?" "Because I am scared of her." "Really???" "Yea".

To myself I don't see how I am less frightening then her. I am by far the biggest prick on the podium I lose my temper more than she does, and yet I still come across as the nice one. But then again the kids always know when I say something I mean it whether it's yes or no. Mostly it's no because kids have stupid ideas. :)

Things I hate... today.

1. The copier at work tops my list today. It likes to change, without warning, the direction that it is copying. Normally I would just put the to be copied on top and let them get sucked through. However when dealing with music, which is at an odd size I have to do it manually.
Thus making for lots of wasted copies.

2. On a related topic to copiers. Publishers that make their music too big to copy all of the music on a normal size piece of paper. I mean seriously you charge too much for music and it's just a pain in my ass. If it were cheaper to buy extra then just making copies I would but it's not so I won't.

3. On days where it rains I hate drivers. I swear if someone spit on the road people would freak. I understand the need to be cautious but come on. Is there really a need to break every 3 seconds. You are going to cause more accidents then prevent by doing that. Yes I am "Belligerent Gay Drive" Super hero to none, just angry at the world. My super power is the ability to drive, text, and flip people off.

4. The god damned writers and studios for giving us a spring season of reality TV. I actually found several shows I enjoy on television and I may never see them again because of this crap.

5. Special K. No new reason but I swear I have enough to keep me going.

6. Students who won't shut up.

Ok well that is enough spewing of bile. It doesn't help I have a headache but whatever.

Suck it Patriots

I am glad to see that the Patriots lost last night. Though I think they are an outstanding team, what I don't like are their fans. This is true for most athletic teams most ravenous fans but New England seems to be the worst lately. They are sore losers and even worse when they win. I enjoy teams and athletes that are realistic about the way they may have played bad or good. Humility is lost on professional sports these days. When people lose it's always some other factor other than they didn't play as well or the other team/person was better. There is nothing wrong with that. We all have better days then others and it's ok. It is also fine to celebrate you successes and it is fine to recognize your teammates they were working just as hard.

How butch am I 2 days in a row I have blogged about sports (sorta).

Now to gay it up a bit I give you a celebratory moment for Eli and the Giants. Yes check out who is singing with Queen.

I feel so butch

And I will tell you why. I like to keep up with my Alma Mater *Go Dawgs!* in basketball. I really don't follow any other sport, but College Basketball is where it is at for me. I come from a small midwestern liberal arts college and I never thought something like this could happen to... wait wrong story. As a small midwestern liberal arts university in a less then powerful conference we are labled part of the Mid Majors. I have no problem with that because for the most part our conference plays on a very different level then say a Big 12 school. I accept this and am fine with it. So I understand when we are underrated in comparison to the big dogs. However when it comes to the rankings with others of our kind I get a bit testy. We are currently 19-2 We have not lost to a Power Conference School all season. We have beat teams from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten and some formidable teams like Southern Illinois. We are currently ranked 12th in major polls and we have an RPI of 23. With all that in mind...

Why I ask you, why are we ranked 2nd on the Mid-major poll. And who are we behind? Gonzaga. Fucking Gonzaga. I will give them proper respect they are a fine team and remain consistant over the years however this is not one of those years. Fo the most part every major conference team they have met they have lost to. They ar 15-5 (remember Bulldogs 19-2). They lost to Texas Tech (We beat Texas Tech). They are in a conference that ranks 12 (We are ranked 10th). They have an RPI of 34 (we are 23 see a trend here.) And they are ranked by ESPN at ... wait ESPN doesn't have them ranked, but wait surely the Associated Press must have them listed among the finest teams in the Nation... wait no no they don't either (umm hello number 12 over here.) OH ...oh... it gets better because you know who else is ranked St. Mary's. I think they are in the WWC, wait it'll come to me why is that important...Think.... Yes that's it Gonzaga is in the WCC too. But how can this be you must be asking yourself Gonzaga must be ranked higher then them it's Gonzaga after all. No because St. Mary's actually has a good non conference record and a better over all record (17-3). So why I ask you why for fuck sake would they be ranked above us. Everyone else seems to get it. Again they will receive a superior seat in the brackets come March and everyone will be shocked when they get upset by a 12 seed.

This rant has been brought to you by the letters F and U (collegeinsider.com those are for you). And Testosterone.

Haha

I knew it...

deep in my heart I knew it was too much to ask for. We already have Monday off. I knew I wouldn't be lucky enough to get a snow day today. Ah well, so here I sit at my computer, at school while Speacial K is off with her "students" playing garage band on her new Wii. She asked if I wanted to join. I declined. God I fucking hate her sometimes.

So watched the season opener of Lost last night. It went about how I expected it to. Poor Hurley. That guy just has the worst luck. So the real question now is why is it the Ocianic 6? did only 6 people get off the island? If so why only 6 and what happened to everyone else? And who was the creepy blck guy chatting with Hurley? I swear the more I watch the more questions I have. For every one answer I get, they creat 12 more. They are drug dealers. They must be, give you a little taste and then you are hooked. Damn them, damn them and their interesting show. (Shaking my fist while swearing "Curse you J.J. Abrams, Curse you!")
