Just a couple of things from a couple of days.

I just sent Sarah on her way to an artist colony for the rest of the summer. It was great seeing her, it's always great seeing her. Her, Xena and I went to Santorinis after the BGB concert and the food was as always great. Sarah got to try out my new air mattress. I figured with as much traveling that we do it would be good to have one handy so people do not have to sleep on the floor all the time.

Yes last night's tribute to Indiana went fine. There were some moments though that got a bit hairy but we made it. I was also very cool to see Holly, some one I had not seen since shortly after high school. She has changed a lot but still very much Holly. I am glad to have seen her there. I actually caught back up with her about a year ago on Myspace but hadn't actually seen her in years. We decided and rightfully so that we need to get together more. She is one of the few people I do miss from high school. There are not many but she is one.

So I finally finished moving all my blog posts from previous blogging arenas. It took a while but they are all here now.It's nice to have all of that in one consolidated area.

Well that is all the news that isn't have a good one. Band camp in two days.

Two quick reviews

I know, I know with having to get work done I should have never bought a book. But I did and I didn't expect to like it so much. My first review is of "Son of a Witch" it's by the same author of "Wicked", which I also loved. I really wasn't expecting to like it but really did. So much so I had problems putting it down even when I had things I really needed to get done. But alas that is how I roll. It basically picks up from when the wicked witch of the west dies. The main character may or may not be the witches son. It is so good, I highly recommend it. I won't give anything away but if you liked "Wicked", the book not the musical because they are drastically different one is good the other is not, then get this and read it. I did buy two books that day and I am resisting the urge to read it until band camp next week.

My other review is of "The Dark Knight" holy batshit Batman. This was so freaking good, I can't stand it. Yes the draw back for me was that it was so obviously Chicago it made it hard to think "Gotham". But at the same time it took a lot of the mythos away and almost made it plausible. Which I have to say I love about the movie. Yes the action scenes where pretty out there but not inconceivable that anything like that could happen but it did ground it a bit more for me. The other thing, and I loved this in the first one was the acting was so good. Top to bottom was so great. They are all fantastic actors so how could you go wrong, but they blew away any expectations. Heath Leger is the Joker as far as I am concerned that is the best portrayal. So twisted and sadistic and yet held that level of humor we love in the character. It was so hard to sit there and think "Yea that's Heath Leger." I am telling you even in the split second he was shown without the make up I still wasn't convinced it was him. Christian Bale again my favorite Batman to date, not enough shirtless scenes but I digress. Michael Caine brilliant. Gary Oldman great actor and seriously I almost cried when they said he was dead, but so happy when he wasn't. Aaron Eckhart loved it I am loving this guy more and more with every movie I see of his. Maggie Gyllenhaal loves me some Maggie, no offense to Katie who was stupid not to take this role again, but Maggie did an outstanding job and yes I was so sad to lose her in the movie. Morgan Freeman aside from the Joker I think this was my favorite character. Morgan Freeman really grew into this roll for this installment and I can't wait to see him in the next one.

So there it is so freaking cool. Comics to movies though I love them and will always see them because I am big and nerdy like that, always fall short for me. But this and "Batman Begins" have shown me it can be done.

151 days till...

Christmas break.

Is that bad that I looked that up. Oh well really not that bad just I am sad that my the teacher I made friends with has officially quit. I saw her today and we chatted a bit. She told me that they have hired a new teacher already. Ok in my building there are 7 teacher and 6 are women. 3 are women over the age of 50. So they hired a retired IPS art teacher so yeah!!!!! another old woman. I swear where are the hot young male art teacher. We could hire one of those and if we are going to do that lets have a swim suit portion of the interview. Oh and I get to interview.

Just five more minutes.

So today marked the end of Summer Break as I know it. Though I must say this was a far more relaxing summer then I have had since taking this job. Normally I spend 3-5 hours a day at school during the summer to do work and what not but this summer I said fuck it. I don't want to set foot on that campus. So I didn't, it was nice I really got a chance to decompress from the stress that place has put on me.

So yea I was back and did some work while the guard camp was going on. I would go up and help from time to time, but the instructor pretty much had it under control. Special K left pretty early on, which was fine because then I didn't have to share the office. So yea another school year. There are parts I am so looking forward to and parts I am not. I was sad to find out one of the few teachers I am friendly with quit. I understand why because last year was just hell for her. Mostly from our department chair, I don't know the whole story I only know my friends side but if even half of it is true it was pretty harsh. So I really don't blame her and am not surprised. But still sad to see her go.

In other news I finally interviewed for the conductor position with the big gay band. It went well and they asked me to audition. So now I need to find a piece myself and prep another piece being picked for me. So this will be fun.

So I have been checking who has been visiting my blog. I have been meaning to do this for a while, but I would like to say hello to all those people out there. Actually the real reason is I am perplexed at the fact anyone reads this. What is more perplexing are the places that I am finding that have visited. Not much to report

I have been busy with writing drill for the band I assist with. The only thing fun to report is that yesterday I was looking at my schedule and they had Special K teaching a class I had created for me to teach. So in the process of getting it fixed she offered to switch out a class with me. sad for her because the class she decided to switch was one I hated to teach. Ha ha. She only realized after she had said to do it that she was getting the evil class. Hopefully we can get this all squared away and have the administration realize they need another part time teacher.

So that is really all that has been going on, nothing special to report. Band picnic on Sunday and then it all starts again. How many days to thanksgiving break?

or 52 year olds.

For as narrow as my age gap is the wider the age gap in people interested in me. I swear I would love to date a man with in 3-5 years of my own age. But the only men that seem interested in me are either in their early 20's or their late 40's early 50's. I think the younger guys are looking for sugar daddies which I am not one. and the older guys are looking for that special someone to take care of.

Look the deal is I am pretty independent. I am not looking for the perfect half to make a whole person. I don't need an older man to financially take care of me, really I would never want that. And I certainly do not want to take care of a twink. I can pay my bills but I am not looking to add onto them. A relationship is a partnership I am not going to be dependent nor a sole supporter. Where are the men of my age bracket. I'll tell you where they are, they are in couples and have been for years. I feel I missed a memo some where around 1998 that said "We are all pairing off, find the man with the corresponding number and set up house." This problem with the age differences is very much like my problem with men in general. The ones I have no interest in are drawn to me like buzzards on a gut wagon and the rest flee at the sight of me. Plus I have now talent for flirting and engaging men of interest. I can be witty and charming with just about anyone but those I fancy. Those men I fall down and drool on myself.
